SPECTRUM SOCIAL JUSTICE SENTINELS PROGRAM - a volunteer training program that connects commUNITY members to ALL of the commUNITY Wellness opportunities that exist within SPECTRUM QUEER MEDIA - a weekly workshop series presented in association with our social justice organization partners.

GUARD CARD TRAINING + CERTIFICATION PROGRAM - providing partial scholarships to support job training and placement of Black Queer + Trans Folks in security positions.



FILM SCREENINGS, FESTS + CURATED COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS

SPECTRUM QUEER MEDIA HAS SCREENED OVER 300 Social Justice + Empowering LGBTQIA + ALLY FILMS (many for free or lowcost) to diverse communities both IN MAJOR CITIES throughout the US + Abroad. Our work is recognized by both the national and international social justice + media justice communities.

 

FREE ANGELA AND ALL POLITICAL PRISONERS 

- produced and curated the Spectrum national screening - the Oakland, California premiere featured Angela Davis as the guest speaker for the Spectrum Community Conversation

 

ALICE WALKER: BEAUTY IN TRUTH

- produced and curated a special Oakland, California premiere screening and discussion with filmmaker Pratibha Parmar, Alice Walker, Geena Davis and Ava DuVernay.

 

PARIAH

- produced and curated an exclusive Spectrum Queer Media screening with filmmaker Dee Rees and Producer Nekisa Cooper in Berkeley, California 

 

MOSQUITA y MARI

- produced and curated an exclusive Spectrum Queer Media screening with filmmaker Aurora Guerrero

 

STRANGE FRAME 

- produced and curated the Bay Area Premiere of the world's first sci-fi, lesbian musical with a trademarked Spectrum community conversation and concert with the film composer and filmmaker Shelley Doty.

 

STILL BLACK: A PORTRAIT OF BLACK TRANSMEN

- produced and curated the California premiere with a community conversation with filmmaker Kortney Ryan Ziegler and producer Awilda Rodriguez Lora.

 

THE NEW BLACK

- produced and launched the East Bay (Oakland California) premiere and community conversations in 2013.

THE GREEN FESTIVAL SF
- served The Green Festival (San Francisco, California) as a festival host committee member in 2013. The Green Festival is the largest sustainability event in the world and has reached more than one million people over the past 11 years. GreenFestival is a nonprofit event and a project of Green America and Global Exchange, a celebration of what’s working for ecological balance, social justice, sustainable economy and local communities.

MANY FACES, ONE DREAM
- served Many Faces. One Dream (Oakland/Bay Area stop) - an economic empowerment tour for LGBT communities of color sponsored by The National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) , the nation’s leading Black LGBT civil rights organization and the U.S. Small Business Administration - as a community promotional partner in 2014.

WEEKLY OAKLAND QUEER + TRANS OPEN MIC (2013) AND MONTHLY BROOKLYN QUEER + TRANS OPEN MIC (2016) - Utilizing a practice of COLLECTIVE SELF-CARE  - we are nurturing and maintaining an international commUNITY of individuals united and intentionally engaged in a consistent healing practice that includes: effective communications skills building; conflict resolution; and commUNITY reclamation.
